LVL Battens
Read more
LVL Battens are a specific type of engineered wood product used in the construction industry, particularly as a superior alternative to traditional solid timber battens. They are a smaller, often narrower application of Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL).
Applications of LVL Battens
LVL battens, due to their straightness and strength, are typically used in non-structural or light structural applications where uniformity is key:
- Roof Battens: They are widely used as the horizontal members fixed across rafters or trusses to which roof sheeting (e.g., metal or concrete tiles) is attached. Their straightness helps ensure a level and even roof surface.
- Wall Battens / Cavity Battens: Used to create a level substrate for internal linings (like plasterboard) on uneven walls, or to create a ventilated cavity behind external cladding systems (often called Cavity Battens or Cladding Battens).
- Ceiling Battens: Used to support the ceiling material (e.g., plasterboard) across ceiling joists or rafters.
- Formwork: Their strength and dimensional stability make them suitable for temporary concrete formwork applications.
